Building and Retaining the Travel Workforce

How can the travel industry attract the talent it needs, help people build meaningful careers, and do what's best to keep people in the industry?

Travel companies continue to face challenges recruiting and retaining talent. Addressing the workforce challenge requires more than scattered job postings and introducing people to the industry.

It also means looking at who in society has barriers to work and examining the full employee journey, from how people discover opportunities in travel to how they are trained, supported, developed, and given reasons to stay.

In this edition of the USTOA SIR Education Series, join Travel Unity for a practical, interactive conversation about how travel organizations can strengthen their approach to workforce development. We’ll look at where traditional recruitment and retention approaches fall short, how organizations can reach and support talent they may currently be missing, and how stronger career pathways can benefit both workers and businesses.

Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, share what they are seeing within their own organizations, and learn from the experiences and approaches of other USTOA members.

Attendees will explore:

  • How changing expectations are affecting recruitment and retention in travel
  • Where organizations lose potential and existing talent
  • Ways to reach and support a broader range of workers
  • How training, advancement, and career pathways can improve retention
  • Why a more inclusive approach to workforce development can strengthen the industry’s overall talent strategy
  • What other travel organizations are seeing and trying across the workforce lifecycle

Who should attend: tour operators and other travel leaders responsible for hiring, workforce development, operations, people management, partnerships, or organizational strategy.
