NEW YORK – January 14, 2026 – The United States Tour Operators Association announced that it will host the 2026 Sustainability Is Responsibility (SIR) Summit in Anchorage, AK, from May 17–20, 2026. Held in partnership with Visit Anchorage, the summit will allow USTOA Active and Associate Members to advance collaboration, shared learning, and actionable solutions that support a more responsible future for the travel industry.

“We are proud to partner with Visit Anchorage for the 2026 SIR Summit in Anchorage, a destination with a strong commitment to responsible tourism,” said Terry Dale, president and CEO of United States Tour Operators Association. “The SIR Summit continues to be an essential forum for our members to collaborate, learn from one another, and identify practical solutions that help address shared sustainability challenges and move our industry forward.”

Visit Anchorage focuses on encouraging informed and meaningful travel, supporting local businesses by adopting sustainable best practices, spreading the benefits of tourism throughout the community, and reducing emissions and waste across its operations. Visit Anchorage is certified through the Adventure Green Alaska program, which recognizes leadership in economic, environmental, social, and cultural sustainability.

The theme of the 2026 USTOA SIR Summit is “Tourism, Communities & Business: Creating Shared Value & Addressing Challenges.” Programming will explore key industry issues including aviation, carbon, overtourism, and climate risk. Sessions will examine how successful community-based tourism models can be adapted in other destinations and how growth can be achieved through a sustainable value chain. Registration is now open to USTOA Active and Associate Members. The deadline to register is April 3, 2026. Additional details are available at https://ustoa.com/events/sir-Anchorage-2026.
