$250 Million Star Plus Initiative

This multi-million dollar project will enhance all aspects of the guest experience for Windstar’s three Star Plus Class all-suite yachts.  Three yachts will be cut to allow the installation of a new section that will lengthen each vessel approximately 84 feet and adds 50 new suites, bringing the total number of suites per ship to 156. Guest capacity increases from 212 to 312 following the lengthening. Star BreezeStar Legend and Star Pride debut in 2021.

Also involved in the $250 Million Star Plus Initiative is the creation of state-of-the-art public spaces including two new dining locations; an enlarged pool and pool deck; new bathrooms in all suites; a new shop; an enlarged fitness center; and a new world-class spa. In addition, the renovation includes a comprehensive re-engine project for each ship. This complex undertaking is an uncommon occurrence in the cruise industry and involves the removal of seven current engines and the installation of four new, more environmentally friendly engines that will run on cleaner fuel and reduce emissions impact to sailing regions. The project represents an overall capacity increase of 24 percent for the small ship line.  More details here: https://www.windstarcruises.com/starplus.aspx/.
