Webinar: Travel Alerts and Warnings to Change - Learn How

This webinar will be conducted by Carmella Donahue, Director of Outreach & Training in Overseas Citizens Services.

The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs is making it easier for US citizens to access clear, timely, and reliable safety and security information about every country in the world. Join us to hear a Consular Affairs representative describe the new products that will replace Travel Warnings, Travel Alerts, and Security/Emergency Messages and how using them can help your clients stay safe abroad.

Carmella Donahue currently serves as the Director of Outreach and Training in the Directorate of Overseas Citizens Services, where she helps facilitate the communication of information with respect to outreach, training, crime victim assistance and web-based technologies in support of U.S. citizens abroad.  She oversees the Bureau’s Consular Information Program Working Group, and has led OCS efforts to improve information and messaging for U.S. citizen overseas.  In addition to revamping consular messaging policies and processes, Carmella leads the outreach team as they run targeted marketing campaigns to stakeholder audiences.  She oversees the OCS web team, which serves as a vital component for our online web and social media presence, and the training team who works to educate Department employees worldwide.

Carmella has been employed with the Department since 2004, serving previously as a Victim Assistance Specialist.  Prior to joining the Department, she ran hospital-based, forensic child protection programs.  Carmella holds a M.P.H. from The George Washington University, and B.A. degrees in History and Spanish from Humboldt State University.  Carmella is a native of California and currently lives in Virginia with her husband, Neil, and their two sons, Lucas and Zachary.
